Why "Speakeasy"?

We all know the common definition of a speakeasy. However, I chose the name Speakeasy Therapy because of the etymology. Speakeasies received their name as patrons were often told to "speak easy" about these secret bars in public.

Similarly, over a decade of practicing in the mental health field - a common thread among clients was the feeling that one had to "speak easy" about their presenting issues or life's challenges.

I hope that Speakeasy is a place you can learn from the benefit of vulnerability and courage it takes to participate in a safe, open, therapeutic space. A place in which we can uncover the answers that lie within you, your community and true self.

I want you to - Be you, bravely.
